Animal Cruelty Law

Animal cruelty is defined as depriving an animal of food, water, shelter or veterinary care.

Dog License

License tags are required for all dogs. Tags must be renewed one year from the last date of purchase. It's the law.

Leash Law

When a dog goes off private property, it must be leashed at all times. Dogs are not permitted to roam free.

Loud Pets

Any animal which causes frequent, habitual or long continued noise which is plainly audible at a distance of 100 feet at any time of the day.

Number of Animals

No person or household shall own, harbor, or keep more than a combined total of four dogs and cats in any combination.

Abandonment Law

It is unlawful for any person to willfully abandon his dog or cat within the city limits.

Pets in Parked Cars

Leaving a pet in a car is considered animal cruelty.

Heat Regulation

Every female dog in heat shall be kept confined in a secure enclosure.

Vaccination Requirement

A current rabies certificate must be presented when applying for a license.
